What's new?
Purple Hat had a very significant 21 day trip in the Sierras in 2008, in which he was researching his next book, Purple Hat* Swims California's Highest Lakes, and also adding new images, including panoramas to his collection of High Sierra Art.

According to him, "This trip was the wildest one I've ever had!  At times I was crying from fear, at times laughing so hartily that I thought I might fall down, and I was always pondering the significance of where I was, and what was occuring to me."

Purple Hat has promised us that this book will be ready by March 28, 2009.

While in the Sierras, Purple Hat took many photographs, the very best of which will be shown here.  But what Purple Hat is most excited about is that he shot roughly 25 panoramas, which can be made very large.  While the exact size is subject to different variables, the three that he has enlarged so far, Moss Underwater, North of Glen Pass, and Wanda Lake are 8' x 3' before being framed!  Purple Hat tells us that he is no longer matting these big images due to the museum quality non glare not coming in a size longer than 8', and he wants to show as much image as possible.  Each 8' x 3' image comes under museum quality non glare and in a Cynthia style frame that is black in color.  They are stunning.  An art critic who viewed them wrote that they were "powerful," "enthusiastic," and "stirring."
Purple Hat had a significant 21 day trip into the Sierras in 2008, in which he swam almost all of California's highest lakes, self defined as being 12,500' or higher.  His trip, including the scary stuff (and there was lots of that), the humorous, and the perhaps mystical, are now being written up by him and, he promises, and I'm going to hold him to it, this should be ready for purchase by March 15, 2009.

Of course, Purple Hat continues his practice of supply a high quality image taken by him of something he saw each day.

Speaking of images, Purple Hat has moved into panoramas, self defined by him to be a
